DESTINATIONS NAVIGATION ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

The project aimed to identify usability challenges within Data Appeal's Destination platform, specifically concerning its navigation structure. After conducting a preliminary analysis and gathering user feedback, it became evident that the existing horizontal navigation was causing confusion and hindering usability. Many users struggled to efficiently locate key features and information, resulting in frustration and longer task completion times.
By analyzing user feedback and applying research-based UX principles, I developed a proposal to enhance content discoverability, improve navigation consistency, and boost overall user satisfaction.
Key aspects of the project included:
-
Redesigning the navigation system to a vertical, expandable layout.
Research indicates that over 80% of users find vertical navigation easier to scan than horizontal layouts (Nielsen Norman Group). Vertical structures better align with natural reading patterns and facilitate faster information retrieval. This data significantly influenced the decision to prioritize a vertical navigation model in the redesign.
